Crisp, clean, geometric lines characterize the 17.955-gallon pool and adjoining spa on this two-acre plot situated along the Chattahoochee River. "We try to look at the owners taste in architecture and art," says Cla Allgood, ASLA, of Allgood Outdoors, who designed this entertainment complex to complement a modern stucco home that the owners describe as "the softer side of contemporary. In addition to the 43 1/2-foot pool and spa, installed by Artistic Pools. The backyard includes two arbors, a barbecue and a massive stacked-stone fireplace. A waterfall on one side of the pool provides a soothing soundtrack for evenings spent entertaining, patterned concrete decking, scored like slate, unifies the entire complex.
"We wanted it to be like another room of the house," explains the homeowner, who loves the backyard's no-nonsense angles. "I think we've accomplished that," Allgood agrees. "It used to be the swimming pool was the center of the backyard," he says. "Now, the swimming pool is only part of the entertainment area. It's not just a pool with a ring of concrete around it anymore."
