Landscaping Financing Options
Wouldn't it be nice if we could pay cash for everything we own! While managing credit is important, financing helps most of us benefit from more costly items when we need them, not after we saved up for them. It is a lot different swimming with your offspring when they are young rather than waiting untill they are 25 and drop by the old folks for a visit. As clients have asked us to help them secure financing for their outdoor projects, we thought it would be good to put an overview of some of these methods on our website.
Option 1. The old standby is a credit card. At Allgood Outdoors, we take all major credit cards. Granted, seldom has a client put an entire project on a credit card but sometimes they have used the card to finance an upgrade in the project. Over the years our landscape designers have divided up landscaping and hardscape projects into phases. This allows the client to add to the project over the years. Once we start work, some clients might decide to use the credit card to do part of another phase. While all credit card companies do charge us a little for the service, we are happy to provide it to our clients at no cost. And some clients use the credit card as a way to build up travel points or other advantages as well.
Options 2. On the other hand, getting a second mortgage for a home improvement fits the bill for some people. As an addition to the home the second mortgage could offers some tax advantages. In the old days, outdoor rooms and using the landscape as an extension of the home's living space were not as valued as they are today. But today, lenders and appraisers can be made to understand the value a properly done landscape will have. Allgood Outdoors can help with this effort by providing the professional landscape drawing and information to help the lenders be assured that the project will add value. At the beginning stages of a project, we can help homeowners talk with those banks, lenders and appraisers who have worked with us before.
Option 3. A third option is with John Deere Credit. It may seem strange to have a "tractor company" involved with your home improvements. But with a little explanation, one can understand this good option. Years ago the people at John Deere recognized that the small family farm was on the decline but "urban horticulture" (read: landscape contracting) was increasing. The John Deere Company made a commitment to be a major player in the Landscape Industry. That has turned into a big plus for us in the industry. In a industry that is actually a relatively young, John Deere brings much history and financial muscle. They were manufacturing plows before Henry Ford was even born. The company has survived every economic downturn since before the Civil War. And through generous credit terms, many farmers survived the Great Depression of the 1930s. Now, John Deere Credit is one of the largest financial institutions in the world.
John Deere has approved Allgood Outdoors to be a "credit partner." With several different financing options through John Deere Credit, you can hopefully find the one that will work for you and your landscaping needs.
